Today, we began learning about what questionnaires are and how they can help gather new information to improve my magazine. Conducting an audience research is very essential in regards to the production of my final products as it allows me to gather elements of interior design magazines that will appeal to our target audience. Down below are my results of 23 people who were surveyed. These ranged from 14-50 years old with various different interests.
I shared with some of my family members throughout WhatsApp. About 4 of them are aged 45+, while one is aged 19. The texts are in Spanish. Moreover, I shared my survey through a QR code in class. I received various of these responses from my classmates.

My questions were:
What is your gender?
In which age group do you fall in?
What is the maximum amount are you willing to spend on an interior design magazine?
Which of these below represents you?
How do you usually read magazines?
When was the last time you read a magazine?
What is your favorite type of content to see in magazines?
What lighting would you prefer for the front cover?
Should there be a digital/electronic version of the magazine available?
Which color scheme appeal to you the most?
How many subjects should be on the front cover?
Should there be accessories/props associated with the main image?
Should there be any prizes/giveaways featured in the magazine?
If answered yes, which of the following should be added?
Should the article be a two page spread?
What should my article for my magazine be about?

Question #1-2:
There was an even proportion between the males and the females in my online survey as about 10 males and 10 females took part in my survey. This way, I can get opinions from both genders about which features I should add to my magazine. So that my magazine isn't primarily focused on one particular gender, the opinions from this survey will allow me to consider both genders. Moreover, most of my surveyed people came from ages 13-18. This is because I used my classmates/younger family members to receive input from people my age. Age is very important because usually, members of the same age share similar interests. The quantitative amounts here were that the females and males were equivalent, and most aged people were 13-18, with about 59.1%. No qualitative data here. My demographics are practically not there, since I will not focus on a gender, neither an age group. My psychographics were to perceive people with an interest for interior design.

Questions #3-4:
A large portion decided that the best price for a interior design magazine should be around $20. about 27% of the people surveyed said this. I first believed that a magazine like mine should be around the price of $30, which was proved by research, but I was surprised when I saw that various people decided that the proper price was lower. Moreover, a lot of people stated that both explorer/succeeder represented them. Both of these were equivalent with 22.7%. These can correlate to my main idea of the magazine. The quantitative amounts here were that a large number wanted the magazine to be 20$ and most people identified as explorers. The qualitative was that the opinion of the audience was that the magazine should be 20$ maximum.

Questions #4-5:
Also, about 36% stated that their main source of reading magazines is through the web. Producing an online magazine is much cheaper than producing a hard copy magazine because it cuts production costs such as printing, distribution and circulation costs. It also saves costs because there will not be copies that go unsold. An online publication platform gives you the an easier way to monitor how many people have read or downloaded the magazine. Apart from that, a large portion said that they usually read magazines in the past couple of days with 31%. These two questions can correlate since online versions of the magazine can make it easier to find better, more affordable copies of magazines in the real world, increasing the amount of readers. The quantitative amounts here were that a large number wanted the magazine to be in an online version, with about 36% and most people read magazines every day, over 30% of the surveyed.

Questions #6-7:
About 50% stated that their favorite type of magazines to examine are interior design, without any bias. This is probably because they give you insights into the latest interior design trends, market events, and more. Today, interior design magazines attract various target audiences, ranging from professional architects, designers, and 3D artists to people looking for affordable home improvement solutions. Cooking and technological magazines also were viewed. High key lighting took the lead here. I wasn't surprised that this was the most popular choice as high key lighting is more natural and will look more balanced on the magazine front cover. It will also make the magazine appear brighter. The quantitative amounts here were that a large number liked interior design magazines, which is 50%, also over 45% wanted the lighting to be high key. The qualitative was that the people gave their opinion that stated that high key lighting was their preference.

Questions #8-9:
About 81% said that the magazine should have an online copy. As I stated before, online copies are much cheaper than producing a hard copy magazine because it cuts production costs such as printing, distribution and circulation costs. It also saves costs because there will not be copies that go unsold. Also, the target audience preferred brown, black, beige and gray. The chosen colour schemes all complement each other and will be appealing to the eye, which in turn attracts the target audience. These colors were also appropriate choices due to the fact that modern contemporary interior design magazines include these colors. Nowadays, matte black along with different types of browns are seemed as the new look of fashion. The quantitative amounts here were that a massive number wants an online version of it over a real, hard cover one, about 80%, and also over 63% appeared to like darker color schemes. The qualitative data was that most said their opinion that there should be an online version.

Questions #10-11:
The majority decided that 2 articles is the appropriate amount to have in my magazine. This could have the advantage of attracting the audience further as they won’t be overwhelmed with the number of subjects on the front cover. Also, accessories should be added to the main image. In my sketch, which was supposed to display a modern Miami living room, had accessories like furniture and palm trees in the background. The quantitative amounts here were that a large number that wanted 2 subjects in the cover, which is 36%, and 82% said props should also be added. The qualitative were that a majority of people gave their opinion that there should be 2 subjects and there should be props.

Questions #12-13:
Prizes will be shown in the magazine. About 82% stated that there should be giveaways and prizes. Having magazine giveaway is a great way for publications to increase their perceived value and drive up sales. Prizes increase the amount of people that want to buy the magazine. Also, the most wanted prize were gift cards, which surprised me, since I thought money was the best choice. Gift cards can give me more opportunities to transform new audiences into potential customers. The quantitative amounts here were that a 82% wants giveaways and prizes because it can increase the value and drive up sales. Also, most said that the prize here should be gift cards, about 50%. The qualitative were that the opinion the people chose most was the gift card option.

Questions #14-15:
The article will be a two-page spread. This is because such a large amount said it should, with over 72%. Articles that span across two pages are much more eye-catching to viewers, which means that they are more likely to grab their attention and make them do a more in-depth analysis of it. Also, the amount of space for more information increases when you use two pages instead of one for the article. The most wanted idea for the article was "10 Living Room Ideas For a New Home." The quantitative amounts here were that at the article will be two pages, with 72% because these articles that span across two pages are much more eye-catching to viewers. And then, about 68% wants the name to be "10 Living Room Ideas For a New Home". The qualitative was that that I saw that the opinion of the people were most towards the first and second options.
Conclusions:
Colour Scheme= Brown, Black, Beige, Gray
Number of subjects on Front Cover= Two
Gender of subject= N/A
Lighting= High key lighting
Price=$20
How often it should be published= Weekly
Prizes/Giveaways= Gift Cards
Digital version of the magazine= Yes
The data that i have collected through my audience research is going to be very useful when for creating my final magazine. The research will help me make the best magazine possible which my target audience will enjoy. It was good to receive the opinions of my friends, family, and classmates on how important elements of my magazine. My initial ideas were very similar to the ones the survey concluded. My demographics were always the same, since I will not focus on a gender, neither an age group. My psychographics were to perceive people with an interest for interior design. There were a lot of surprising answers, Some of them were the price decrease, type of lighting, the gift that should be used in the main image, and the amount of people that said that said they read a magazine the past few days.
